Abstract
1,4,6-Cholestatrien-3-one (IV), prepared by two independent methods, was subjected to the dienone-phenol rearrangement yielding a 1-methyl-6-dehydro phenol (V), which on hydrogenation produced the authentic 1-methyl-3-hydroxy-1,3,5-triene II of the choles
